Dave is too much overlooked in the modern history of comics.

I’ve got a few Erol Otus stories. Maybe I’ll share one someday.

I like the Jim Aparo Method — which predates Aparo, of course — just fine, and think it’s an excellent idea to place all the lettering at the layout stage.

I just didn’t think much of Aparo’s balloon placement instincts — I think he too often placed the lettering infelicitously, and then when he drew the panel and there was a big open space where the balloon would read perfectly, but where he had it it was interfering with the drawing, he didn’t move it. Sometimes I think Aparo must have hated drawing elbows, considering the number of times there’d be a word balloon in the middle of an outstretched arm when there was plenty of room above the arm.

But he made a lot of good comics that way, so why would he care what I thought?

Really appreciate the kind words about Cerebus. It's almost jarring to hear Dave's name being mentioned anymore, and then for someone to actually say something NICE... woah! I have mad respect for both of you. Two of the most fearless writers comic books have ever had.

Amazing art once again. Especially Cerebus. I forgot what they call the line work in the background. Was that something Gerhard did in the comics? It looks perfect the way you did it!

My guess is that the female mage is from the cover of Secret of Bone Hill.

I keep coming back for the art and all the interesting stories you have from working in the rpg and comics industry. Never gets old! Do you have any tales of meeting/working with Erol Otus? I imagine that be might scary!
