If you need something to take your mind off the discomfort, Apple TV has a wonderful series called Slow Horses.
Clever and hysterical, it is essentially Sandbaggers gone to seed.
Gary Oldman (a former George Smiley himself) plays our decomposing and all but decommissioned Burnside type, now essentially the heavyweight belt holding Worst Boss In The World.
It’s the first in a series of novels. Their adaptation of the second book, Dead Lions, has already been filmed. And, trust me, that’s very good news.
Slow Horses has apparently been given a renewal for two more seasons! I guess Gary Oldman’s retirement is put off a few years. He seems ready to settle into playing Jackson Lamb for a while. In interviews he compares himself the role to Peter Falk playing Columbo.
Sorry to hear about your back.

I’m watching Slow Horses and have many of the same reactions. Gary Oldman is killing it in the role, and clearly having fun doing it.

I could live with that.
