Good morning.
Even in the midst of a huge brouhaha of (mostly) my own making, actual work has to be done. I’ve got a comic script (not Fables and not for DC — never again for DC) to finish — its due soon — and a novel-in-progress to work on (for a very understanding publisher).
I’m overwhelmed (in a good way) by the outpouring of support I’ve received over the past two days concerning my decision to send Fables into the public domain. It’s a decision that still stands, and will stand, even in the face of cranky denials from those DC folks, who now openly admit what I’ve known all along: Even with a creator-owned contract, they believe they are the true owners of Fables. They always have.
Thank you so much for your messages of support and encouragement. Even those of you who think ill of me, and believe this is all just some hollow publicity stunt to prop up my fragile ego; your comments and jibes are, if not exactly enlightened, then enlightening, and expected, which also makes them at least some form of welcome. Freedom is messy, so do please continue to speak your minds.
I’ve received many offers for interviews and appearances, some of which I plan to accept, but those decisions will have to wait for sometime next week. I hope you’ll bear with me a little longer.
This weekend I plan to ignore all of that, and instead spend some time in lush fictional worlds, charting the adventures, daring do, narrow escapes, and dire mishaps of heroic men and women of good character and a sound moral code.
In the meantime I’m reminded that I have an online store that might benefit from this temporary (one presumes) uptick of interest in my latest activities.
You can find it by clicking here.
In my humble store you’ll mostly find original art I have for sale (for far too much money), plus my one and only limited edition sketchbook (for those of you on more of a budget), plus a few other odds and ends. Do please take a moment to examine the goods.
Enjoy the weekend.
The link should work now.
Not sure if "congratulations" is the proper term, but in any case you have my highest regard. You've been one of my favorites since Elementals ("Hey, it's that awesome artist from the D&D manuals!") and I eagerly await the third score in your hat trick.
